news tip Elden Ring: A mod transforms the game into a classic 90s RPG
How about seeing Elden Ring in a new light? This is what YouTuber Flurdeh offers with his new creation, in which he briefly transforms From Software’s game into a good old classic RPG from the 90s, simply thanks to a mod called “photomode mod”.
Secure, Elden Ring is supported by an outdated graphics engine, but that doesn’t prevent the game From Software by perfect to let his exceptional artistic direction speak to present us beautiful landscapes† But that was without counting on the community of modders, who wanted to make it even more beautiful than it already is! Available for a few runes (sorry, a few coins) on his Patreon pagethe mud Frans Bouma offers what we will call a “photo mod”, specially designed for Elden Ring, and which allows you to work wonders. The YouTuber Flurdeh has seized the opportunity to transform the universe by Hidetaka Miyazaki in real 90s RPG†

How the mod works: The Tilt Shift effect
To give this old-fashioned RPG effect, thanks to the photo mod, the creator uses what is called the “tilt-shift” effect† Also used in photography, this effect enables the lens and image plane of a camera move and rotate independently of each other† This allows the videographer to be in a precise spot, making the full size footage look small. This change of depth in the image greatly contributes to increasing the sense of distance from the characters. and allows you to create beautiful scenes, as you can see in the video above, or in the screenshots below:
The Birth of Mini-Elden Ring
Thanks to this camera change and the “tilt shift” effect, some images in the game become almost grainy, further accentuating this “old 90’s RPG” effect. Indeed, one has the impression of looking at handmade dioramas come alive for us, and thanks to this mod, even the most combative enemies look much less impressive.
Playing on our nostalgia, this mod makes us dream of a Elden Ring in Isometric 3D that we could play cross-legged in front of our cathode ray television, just as we could escape into myths like chrono trigger True Secret of Mana… but a little harder!
Note that Flurdeh is not on his first try with this video on Elden Ring! Do not hesitate to visit his YouTube channel if you want to discover (or rediscover) cult games like god of war† Breath of the Wild† Bioshock Infinite True Cyberpunk 2077†
