Employment in Algeria: which sectors are recruiting the most in 2022?

The third edition of the Emploitic study: “Recruitment prospects” has just been made public. This sheds light on the opinion on companies’ recruitment forecasts for the 1st half of the year 2022. More than 500 companies of all sizes, spread over the national territory and belonging to different sectors of activity, participated in this study .

The first part of the survey looks back at the labor market in 2021 and highlights the main difficulties companies have faced this year.

The second part concerns the ambitions of companies in the field of job creation. Thereby, 37% of companies surveyed plan to recruit during this first half of 2022. This represents an evolution of 9 points compared to the same period of 2021. In addition, the report highlights the major challenges companies will face in returning to growth levels comparable to those before the covid-19 pandemic.

Recruitment prospects for the 1er semester 2022

The results of the Emploitic report indicate that 37% of companies plan to hire in the first half of 2022. On the website jobtic.comIn January and February 2022, the number of vacancies increased by 17% compared to the same period in 2021. In contrast, almost two-thirds of companies surveyed (63%) do not plan to increase their workforce, 17% of them still planning to reduce them

With regard to the specialties sought, commerce and marketing tops the list† On the question: which professions do you plan to recruit in 2022, 37.4% of companies stated that they wanted to increase their number of commercial agents. In second and third place are the functions of marketing/communication (26.3%) and administration and general resources (25.5%). Industry jobs rank 4and rank with a prognosis of about 23.6%. With regard to other occupations, 19% of companies plan to hire IT specialists, 13.5% construction workers, 8.8% health personnel and only 3.5% tourists and hotel professionals.

Forecasts 2022 by sector

As usual, the sectors expected to recruit the most in the first half of 2022 are: industrythe sector of Servicesthe build and the trade and the distribution

Indeed, 42% of companies in the industrial sector, 38% of service companies, 32% of construction companies, 29% of distribution and trading companies expect an increase in their workforce.

From a company size point of view, the projections are roughly the same. On average, 37% of VSEs, SMBs and large companies plan to hire in the first half of 2022.

Why are companies reluctant to hire young graduates?

The 2021 “Recruitment Outlook” report highlights the most important barriers to recruitment companies mentioned were: scarcity of talent (42%) and lack of solid business knowledge (33%). In addition, 29% of companies regret a significant gap between academic performance and the requirements of the professional world† Recruiters believe that young graduates are not sufficiently prepared to enter the labor market, neither in terms of know-how nor in terms of interpersonal skills.
