Alexander Volkanovski is still the UFC featherweight champion. On Saturday, the Australian defeated South Korean Jung Chan-Sung, the “Korean Zombie”, by K.-O in Jacksonville (USA) at UFC 273. technique in the fourth round. Volkanovski is still undefeated in the UFC. He now has 11 wins in as many fights. This is the third time he has defended his title and over his entire MMA career he has racked up a total of 24 wins against one loss.

The most spectacular fight of the night didn’t put a single title on the line, but the opposition, in the welterweight category, between Swede Khamzat Chimaev and No. 2 Brazilian Gilbert Burns kept all its promises. And Chimaev (11th for the fight) won by unanimous decision of the judges. This win just might allow him to cross paths with Kamaru Usman, the UFC champion, soon after a fight against official challenger, Colby Covington.
The Swede got Gilbert Burns into trouble right from the start. But the Brazilian recovered quickly and the fight turned spectacular, with the two men delivering an avalanche of blows each. Burns, who looked like he was about to burst, however, managed to take down Chimaev. But eventually he withdrew more and more, before bowing.

Aljamain Sterling titled in the roosters
For the bantamweight title, American Aljamain Sterling defeated Russian Petr Yan on a split decision, and contested (organization president Dana White stated in a press conference that he would have given Yan 3 rounds). It was a rematch between the two men. Last year, Sterling became the first UFC champion to be crowned after disqualification. However, Yan was easily on his way to victory, led the showdown, before committing a mistake.
But by winning on Saturday, Aljamain Sterling silenced the doubters. He grabbed the judges’ decision after a good first round, then dominated the next two rounds, before letting Petr Yan dominate the two remaining rounds. † I know I came here really challengedsaid Sterling.
