For the journey from TFC to Guingamp on Saturday (3pm, beIN Sports 2), writing the site LesViolets.Com interrogated EAG Teammedia for supporters of Guingamp.
The EAG is currently in 7th place and has had a fairly successful season. Do you think there was room to go for the top 5?
†We are clearly in place. The main idea of this season was to rebuild by starting a new – and finally a real – sporting project! We never claimed to be in the top 5 this season. In recent weeks we have felt that the ideas that Dumont wants to realize are emerging. It would be good to finish the season as close to the top 5 as possible to be able to claim from next season.†
After your two consecutive wins against Nancy and Nîmes, the maintenance is obtained. What is the goal of this end of the season?
†As I said, the goal is to continue the good dynamics of the moment. Preparation for the next season should be the common thread. For example, Guingamp has regained its defensive solidity, is starting to show interesting game phases, it would be cool to continue this rise in power. It has also become difficult to win at Roudourou (8 home games unbeaten), it is a strength that we must maintain.†
L’En Avant seems to be making a big com’ on Saturday’s “shock”. Do you feel high hopes for this match?
†The club communicates a lot about this match. Logically, we receive the leader, the schedule is nice to attract people to the stadium, the two teams will definitely offer some play. Afterwards, the official communication of the club sells the event a bit too much. I’m not sure if there really is a huge enthusiasm around the game. But people in the stadium and in front of their television will certainly enjoy themselves, such as the first leg.†
Guingamp has a good track record against the top 5. Does this type of match suit you better?
†We are a team that likes to play. We had a lot of problems at the beginning of the season against low blocks, poorly ranked teams, with also some problems to penalize the opponent in the highlights. I think we like to meet playful teams. Afterwards, against the big boys, there can also be an extra soul in the players, whether it’s linked to the challenge or showing up. As journalist Louis Le Bars noted on Twitter this week, Guingamp took 13 out of 27 points against the top 5 this season. No team has done better!†
What do you think of the TFC season?
†I’m not surprised to see you here. Your project is meaningful and deserved relative to the effort of almost two years. Last season’s sporting failure was quickly forgotten and digested. You are in the right place and you deserve it. You make a nice game with young people and somewhat exotic players for Ligue 2, nice to see! It’s also nice to see the enthusiasm around the club and in your stadium. I saw your match last Saturday, it was nice to see the stadium full and behind the purple.†
Any predictions for Saturday’s game? And for the final standings of the two clubs?
†I think we will see an open and contested game like the first leg. I want us to keep our invincibility at home, so I’m betting on a 3-2 for Guingamp! As for the standings, I stay pretty close to my prediction from last October: Toulouse 1st and Guingamp 7th.†
