MotoGP Austin J1: Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha / 3) withstands the 1,200-meter straight!

The Grand Prix of the Americas may take place on a Circuit of the Americas in Austin with a straight line of 1,200 meters, Fabio Quartararo resists very good resistance on the handlebars of his Yamaha M1 giving in to 12 km / h in comparison with the best Ducati, Honda, Suzuki and Aprilia!

Making up for lost time in the straight in the twisty section seems to be the common thread that will keep the French driver busy throughout his Texas weekend. This is certainly easier to do by riding alone in the practice sessions than in the race, but it is essential to ensure a good position on the starting grid, and that’s what did El Diablo so far, fourth time in FP1 and then third time in FP2.

Confident before the start of the weekend, the official Yamaha rider explains: “ We have a big advantage in the braking zones and there are long braking zones here that we need to use to our advantage. the line offrom behind doesn’t help us at all and I really have to put myself on the limit when braking. Unfortunately we lose on the straights, but we make up for most of it on the brakes. The track has good grip, we tried something on the bike in the first run of FP2, but it didn’t work. We rode in a short 2’04, but once we got back on the normal bike we were about 2’03. So we are quite happy with the day, even if I made a small mistake while attacking the clock. Last year it was very dangerous with the bumps. If you wanted to go into turn 2, you had to straighten the bike so as not to fall. Now you can take risks in many corners and enjoy driving 100%. The most important thing today was trying to be in the top five.

It remains to decide on the rear tire, and for this Fabio Quartararo did not notice the long term achieved by Alex Rins with a soft rear tire…

The pace was very good with the worn medium tires but everyone is going very fast and tomorrow we will do a few more laps on the soft tires. I don’t think we’re that bad. Rins was very strong in terms of pace with the soft rear tire, and Saturday we have yet to find something. It will be important to do many laps with the soft compound to make the decision easier for the race. The 12 rounds with the medium were very regular and we now have to compare the performance.
