Saturday October 8 was hosted by Squeezie the GP Explorer. It was a Formula 4 race where 22 drivers from 11 teams had to compete against each other for the occasion. Fully framed by the FFSA, the French motorsport federationhe was not taken lightly at all. Months of training took place with theoretical and practical lessons, simulator and kart sessions before the 22 content creators were allowed to get into their single-seater.

And at the same time you have to realize that these vehicles are capable of up to 250 km/h and that they are very different from classic cars. It is not only the speed that increases, many aspects that are completely foreign to other vehicles, such as tire management, have to be taken into account. The track must also be learned, as well as all the rules related to the race.

During this circuit, safety was paramount. At this speed, an accident between two vehicles can have serious consequences.

The program for the GP Explorer day

From 9:00 am the 22 riders were on the track for free practice. The opportunity to get back in the mood, rediscover the sensations with your car, but also to warm up the track to allow a good grip for the future.

At 10:00 it was time for qualifying, which took place in three stages until about 12:00. The 15-lap race itself was scheduled for 5pm and saw Sylvain Levy of the YouTube channel Vilebrequin crowned champion after an intense duel for first place with Pierre-Olivier Valette, aka Depielo.

It was on the Bugatti circuit of Le Mans that everything happened. It consists of 11 curves that must be taken carefully so as not to fall into the background. Among them the famous Dunlop chicane with turns 2 and 3. Quite complicated to understand, several drivers ended up in the gravel during practice.

There was a lot of loss of control from the start of the day. Between the stress, the lack of experience of the pilots, but also and above all the lack of grip, some of them were shocked. Keep in mind that if the track is cold; like the morning before, the drivers have done a few laps: and the tires are cold, the grip is at its weakest!

But the most impressive accident did not occur during the tests. USAIt was in the second qualifying stage that everyone got scared. Joyca indeed lost control and found herself in the background.

The front of the car has been completely demolished. The spectators, the organization and the presenters, everyone is shocked. The culprit: the Dunlop chicane, which all pilots feared from the start. At this point, all you need to do is let go of the accelerator for a moment and the steering wheel isn’t perfectly angled to make everything go into a spin.

But Fortunately more fear than evil! The car is badly damaged, but Joyca escapes unharmed.

The qualifying phase is quickly halted and at this point the dream of racing completely escapes Joyca. The shock is over, he goes to the set to give his news. And these are excellent considering the accident that occurred! Only a slight pain in the lower back remains.

Returning to the action, he indicates that for him, entering the corner, all was well. He was serene. But that didn’t stop him from losing traction and slipping into the background.

He keeps his eyes closed during the accident. There is nothing to do but wait for him, control is completely lost. For a moment that seemed like an eternity, he has time to live his life.

After the shock, the race organization reacted very quickly. Red flag, end of qualifying and especially the race marshals (volunteers) arrive immediately to help the driver.

We soon realize that it is for Joyca. The information is passed on efficiently and quickly: he is in good health. His first instinct once out of the vehicle: to ask what his time was! And it has to be said that it wasn’t bad as he could have started 12th on the grid. On set, we see him calm and in good health.

Even if the car is badly damaged, all is not lost for him! Indeed, the FFSA engineers and mechanics are working hard to get it back on the road in time for the race. Nothing is certain, but there is hope.

And Joyca still wants to be able to participate. Even though he will go slower than he could have done, and he fears a mental block, he feels ready to get back on track if given the chance.

Just before 3 pm the news came: the car had been repaired and Joyca would start 12th on the grid! The work of the mechanics was extraordinary, saving the vehicle in just a few hours.

Whoever could have been robbed of the race managed to finish it 20th anyway. A very nice result if we take into account everything that happened to him!
