Game News Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, Just Dance… Ubisoft shuts down servers of 93 games, page turns
The years go by and if the memories remain, we can’t say too much about the servers, which have to close after years and years of activity. This does not mean the discontinuation of the marketing of the games in question, but simply that the multiplayer and online functions shift to the left: today it concerns a large list of Ubisoft productions…
The PS3/Xbox 360/Wii era hit hard
Nothing lasts forever and if the video game is now well entrenched in mores, it is no exception to the rule either. Over time, more and more hits from the last two decades are seeing their servers shut down, and for very obvious reasons: they continue to cost publishers money while their presence is in total free fall, or even non-existent. It’s hard, some players usually get old, but it’s the end of a pretty natural cycle.
This is especially the case for several Rockstar games (more details at this address) as well as those of many Ubisoft titles. Todaythe French company has announced the closure of the servers of more than 90 games, mainly on PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii or Wii U. This is about stopping multiplayer for titles like Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood True Far cry 3but also leaderboards for many other titles: in short, shutting down online functions.
Be reassured : these can still be bought and played (luckily by the way), but there is officially a page turning… and the trend should not die out in the coming years.
