Discriminatory content removed from GTA 5

We know: The Grand Theft Auto series is good at hitting all communities, constantly arming itself with satirical and sour humor to establish the societal critique of its time. Anyway, some jokes and references carry on better than others and those aimed at the LGBTQ+ community have stuck with Out Making Gamesan association dedicated to the defense of this specific sector: it published in September in particular an open letter to Rockstar asking them to remove certain transphobic content from Grand Theft Auto V† Words directly backed by Kotaku afterwards, in short enough to make a noise.

And it seems as if the sound was heard. Out Making Games has just stated that the words and illustrations in question – caricatures of drag queens around Cockatoos and phrases of the main characters intended for them, especially related to taking hormones – have obviously been removed from the latest versions of the game, on PS5 and Xbox series. Earlier in April, a player also pointed to another removal, that of the virtual Captain Spacetoy figurine… which could alter his genitals.

As it stands, it’s unclear if Rockstar acted in response to Out Making Games’ open letter, as the R-star company has not made any official comment.† However, everything leads us to suspect that the studio has of course heard the criticism aimed at it: enough to incite the association thanks merry the designers to have “makes the problem a priority”†
