Halo Infinite was anticipated by fans as the messiah, and its arrival last December was particularly well received: only here, a few months later, its popularity on Steam picks up to the point of being overtaken by a compilation.
The Master Chief Collection takes over
Steam is often a very good indicator of the popularity of games, even if they are cross-platform. Halo Infinite is no exception and if we know that the rise of the title of 343 Industries has been declining sharply for quite some time, we can see that the FPS has just been overtaken by the Halo The Master Chief Collection : the latter peaked at 9,212 players simultaneously, up from 8,210 players for the latest opus. It now rules about ranked 119th most played games currently on the Valve platform.
Last February we already informed you about the sharp decline in the audience of Halo Infinite on Steam, which can be explained by two reasons: first, the fact that the game came with the Xbox Game Pass and that the multiplayer was free once the colossal figures were released, but not necessarily from the fans or avid players. As a result, many simply curious people gradually left after tasting the title of the American studio.

A season 2 that is desired
This is also the big problem of Halo Infinite : he didn’t know enough how to maintain his community. The Forge mode or solo mode collaboration, horribly anticipated, has been repeatedly delayed: the first arrives in early April, and the second still has no release date.
Finally, Season 2, which also came out slowly, has only just announced a release date, slated for May 3, 2022 (the contents of which are detailed) at this address† It’s quite late, yes, but this should no doubt revive interest in the game and get the game back up the rankings on both Steam and Xbox. 343 Industries even just supported itself witha new development studio to ensure a more solid and regular follow-up.
