Paris Games Week 2022 takes place

Although E3 was recently canceled again this year, we started to have doubts about holding other similar events. But after Gamescom, it’s Paris Games Week’s turn to give us an appointment for a personal show. And you can already reserve the date. PGW 2022 will indeed continue from 2 to 6 November 2022. As usual, the show will open its doors a day early (ie November 1) to welcome industry professionals (journalists, content creators, etc.). The ticket office opens from June 15 on the official Paris Games Week website.

We don’t change a winning team for the place. Indeed, the PGW 2022 will once again take place in the largest French exhibition center: Paris Expo at Porte de Versailles. As for size and exhibitors, the mystery remains. At the moment, the organizers have not provided more information on this subject, but they promise to get back to us very soon to pass on the program and other important details.

An issue placed under the sign of reunion

The Covid-19 pandemic has deeply affected the events industry. Thus, by preventing large gatherings of people, it has closed the doors to events that thousands of players are waiting for. The return of the PGW is therefore a minor event in itself and portends a brighter future for video game scholarships. Thanks to the current situation, the organizers of the French show feel able to deliver on the promise they made to us last year when they canceled the 2021 edition: the reunion will take place in 2022.

We have used the last two years to design this edition; a reunion that promises to be unforgettable.

what to expect ?

If the Paris show doesn’t have the same vibe as E3 or Gamescom, that doesn’t mean it’s stingy with announcements and other discoveries. Admittedly, the primary goal is mostly to get players to try future titles. But we are not immune to some big surprises, especially in this context where the announcements are no longer limited to the hallowed E3. If we tend to forget, the PGW is already entitled to its share in world premiere† In 2017, the show opened with a two-hour PlayStation conference broadcast. In this case, Ghost of Tsushima and Concrete Genius was announced, while
god of war† Marvel’s Spider-Man or The Last of Us Part II had revealed themselves a little more with unpublished images. We can hope that Sony will repeat the experience this year, especially as a certain God of War: Ragnarok is mainly in the boxes. But we’re not immune to seeing another industry giant take its place to kick off this 2022 edition in style.

The PGW also has the opportunity to showcase the French game. This is mainly done via the stand Games made in France, bringing together several French titles that are released or will be released every year. The opportunity for players to discover these titles (usually little known), as well as meet those who created them. A beneficial presentation that is sometimes accompanied by a few presentations. This is what Arte did in 2019 with the games The Wanderer: Frankenstein’s Creature and vector name† So this year we can expect that Inua – A Story in Ice and Time and Unmaze – A Myth of Light and Shadowthe last two titles of the French publishing house.

In addition to the games themselves, the PGW has always been a moment to share with various organizations. In addition to the various schools that are on site to promote their education, for example, there are associations that are committed to making video games more inclusive. This is especially the case of Play as you are and from Women in games who organized many discussions and other experiences to make the voices of players with disabilities and women heard. It remains to be seen whether these stands will be back in the game.
