News hardware Pixel Watch: Google’s Connected Watch Leaked
Rumors of the arrival of the Pixel Watch, the name that Google’s future connected watch should bear, became more pressing. Today we were treated to a veritable hail of leaks revealing the final design and functionality of this smart watch. The announcement is just around the corner: here’s everything we know!
Google’s Pixel Watch is coming soon and it’s going to be a pretty good smartwatch
Google I/O, Mountain View Firm’s Big Annual Conference, Will Be Held May 11 and 12, 2022† Of course, if it’s impossible to know in advance everything this conference has in store for us, one thing is almost certain: we will see the Pixel Watch.
At the moment, the leaking linked to the Google connected watch proliferate The various sources are extremely reliable and we can say without hesitation that the final design of the device and some of its capabilities are now known.
And that’s not all! In addition to the various leaks, the Google Store, the official site where you can buy the products of the brand, has just been updated in several countries. Germany, US, Japan, UK…. everywhere a fairly strong change can be observed. The site’s main menu highlights Google Pixel smartphones more than ever… as well as connected watches. Previously, accessories for home automation were central instead of watches (such as the smart Google Nest speaker).
When Google entered the smartphone market, the company did well. It’s normal, behind Android, the operating system used by almost all phones that don’t get hit with an apple in the back, there’s Google. The arrival of the American giant on the market of smart waxes is of the same accabi. Since 2014, Google has been behind the operating system of a package of market models, called Wear OS.
So you can expect heavy. The Pixel Watch will most likely be a perfectly mastered high-end watch, even if it is the brand’s very first model.
Here’s everything we ‘know’ about the Pixel Watch, the first watch built by Google
The most tech-savvy among you probably already know it John Prosser, an often knowledgeable American YouTuber. On his show “Front Page Tech”, John Prosser had already revealed the first leaks of the Pixel Watch in December 2021.
In April 2022 it will be the turn of the leaker Evan Blass, known as Evleaks, to leak the beast’s gaze. When such sources intersect, the information is solid. You can see it in the illustrative images of this article, the Pixel Watch will be a fairly thin and sober connected watch, with a round and curved screen. On the right side of the beast there is a small rotating crown, simple and effective.
Well, the design is very nice, but the real question always remains the same: what does the Google connected watch have in store for us in terms of functionality?
- As for the operating system, the sources are sometimes contradictory. Some people talk about athe brand new version of Wear OSothers speak of already released versions, especially on Samsung’s Galaxy Watches.
- What’s certain, though, is that the Pixel Watch will make a lot of use of Fitbit, a major manufacturer in the connected watch market, which was acquired by Google in January 2021 for a modest $2.1 billion. So expect Fitbit’s popular pedometer and heart rate monitor on the Pixel Watch. We may also be entitled to exclusive fitness features straight from the brains of Fitbit engineers.
- According to yet another leak, this time from a database of operators, the Pixel Watch should have 32 GB internal storage† That’s huge for a watch.
- In terms of price, our colleagues from The edge speak to us of a rather high price, of more than $300† The Pixel Watch would then be in direct competition with the behemoth that largely dominates the market: the Apple Watch. If Google manages to do better than a day and a half of autonomy (which isn’t guaranteed at all on high-end models), Apple may tremble.
So, hyped? From our side, we are looking forward to May 11th. Count on us to keep you updated on the release of this highly anticipated Pixel Watch from Google.
