If there’s one series that has managed to quickly make a name for itself in the world of RPGs, it’s Horizon! Starting with Horizon: Zero Dawn, the series immerses us in a post-apocalyptic world where machines are ubiquitous.
The game, in its first opus, manages to do it almost flawlessly. Whether it’s the scenario, the graphics, the adventure, the gameplay, and the environment, we’re clearly in for a huge success that will make the PS4 shine.
In the second installment announced, Guerrilla Games had to take up the challenge. Taking advantage of the surprise on the first opus to make a difference, the second part of Aloy’s adventures fulfilled all the promises and managed to transform the test.
Horizon: Forbidden West from its nickname, has managed to charm critics and players alike.
This PlayStation exclusive takes advantage of all the technological advancements made on Sony’s latest console to deliver an immersive, exotic adventure that deepens Aloy’s universe.
As a reminder, in the Horizon series you play as Aloy, a young woman who grew up with withdrawal from her tribe. Because her tutor Rost was an outcast, she was raised the same. In this second installment, her mission is to learn more about the mysterious red plants that have appeared. And for that she has to go to the forbidden countries, the taboo West.
Of course, we find the same environment where animals, plants and machines coexist, self-regulating in a cycle meant to be natural. The gameplay continues along the same lines as the first episode, alternating between passages where you have to engage in discrete and dynamic battles.

The game is therefore offered in a collector’s version that has everything you need! The latter also contains many bonuses in addition to the game! Small minus, however, this is a digital version of the game (it is in the form of a download code). But that doesn’t detract from the generosity of this special edition that includes:

Building on an already very good first installment, Horizon Forbidden West hits the stars and becomes a true highlight for the Guerrilla Games studio formula, but also for the ‘classic’ open world genre in general. Fascinating from beginning to end, with a universe of lavish artistic direction, better written and directed, and more engaging from a combat and exploration standpoint, the title is nearly flawless on everything it undertakes, paying attention to detail in every moment. Plus, Horizon Forbidden West even has the luxury of being both excellent on PS5, PS4 Pro and PS4 Fat, thanks to exemplary cross-generational work. We can only regret a final conclusion that shipped a bit quickly, and a lack of important new features. Not enough to spoil the wonderful adventure that awaits in the Forbidden West. A truly exceptional title.
