304,822 voters are named

The 304,822 voters registered in Martinique are invited to vote for the first round of the presidential election on Saturday, April 9, 2022. Voting is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Saturday, April 9, 2022, the 304,822 voters from Martinique are expected in the 333 polling stations of the territory of 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.† The closing of the polls has been postponed until 7 p.m. to take into account the religious customs of certain voters.

Martinique is one of the areas voting with the Polynesia, Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, Saint-Barthélémy, Saint-Martin, Guadeloupe and Guyana. Early voting has been introduced for the first time on the occasion of the referendum to validate the draft Constitution for the European Union in May 2005.

The principle is to prevent voters from certain remote areas, such as Martinique, from continuing to vote when the results are already known for all of France.

In accordance with the electoral law, no results are allowed to be broadcast by a Martinique media before the closing of the last polling station in France, ie Sunday 10 April 2022 at 2 pm.

Observers fear the turnout in a context where the mMultiplication of crises, fragmentation of opinions and information sources and young people avoiding elections are factors that encourage abstinence.

In the first round of the presidential elections on April 22, 2017, the turnout was 13.93% in the afternoon.

Thanks to the improvement in the health situation, this first round of the presidential elections is taking place in a slightly more serene atmosphere.

A health protocol has been put in place to ensure the smooth running of the voting operations. Wearing a mask is not mandatory in polling stations, but remains highly recommended, especially for the elderly, immunocompromised, chronically ill and frail and caregiversspecifies the prefecture of Martinique.

In all polling stations, surgical masks are made available to voters and persons involved in the organization of the poll and who wish to wear them.

Voters wearing a mask may be asked to take it off for a while to verify their identity.

Washing hands remains an essential barrier measure“, the prefecture recalls. Handwashing points and hydroalcoholic gel will be made available to voters.

The equipment available to voters (pens, cabinets, ballot boxes, polling booths) must be cleaned regularly during the vote.

The polling station should be ventilated regularly, ten minutes per hour or as indicated by the CO2 sensors if the room is equipped.
