Lidl makes an outrageous announcement that its customers may not like!

In Lyon, the German company LIDL has decided to make a strange request to its customers. Find out there as soon as possible!

It’s been a few days since Lidl customers in Lyon have gotten used to these messages at the door of Lidl stores. On site, the management asks customers to adjust their shopping list! And this because of the war in Ukraine

Indeed, Lidl believers can’t miss this front door message: We are currently experiencing delivery issues for some of our Products† In order to satisfy all our customers, we also ask you to limit your purchases, we can read.

2022

The war in Ukraine influenced the production of raw materials. And now it has consequences for the end customer.

We are currently experiencing delivery issues.

The first thing you should know is that Ukraine is a major wheat exporter worldwide. But the first place is taken by Russia. Our colleagues from La Dépêche interviewed Philippe Chalmin, economist and professor at Paris Dauphine University.

For now, experts are struggling to estimate the consequences of the conflict for the price materials such as wheat. According to Philippe Chalmin, the effects are limited. And it is not impossible that they remain so. At the time of the conflict in Crimea in 2014, the grain flow continued to circulate smoothly, the economist recalls.

Lidl in trouble!

It cannot be ruled out that prices have risen somewhat in anticipation of the tensions, but that will not go very far. We can already rest assured: there are no consequences for the price of the bread

In a wand that costs you a eurosthe share of wheat is 7 to 8 cents, remembers Philippe Chalmin.

In November 2021, the price of wheat had risen sharply. At that time it reached 300 euros the barrel. But today the price is around 260,270 euros the barrel.

When asked about the price of wheat, it is sunflower oil that Lidl is most concerned about. Why ? Simply because Ukraine and Russia also produce 3/4 of the world’s sunflower oil there. It is much ! The specialists assure us that there will be no consequences in the coming weeks. But that may change by the end of the year!

Lidl: Already a shortage?

Happy, we are not yet at the stage of scarcity. But in Lyon, we’ve been talking about rationing and limits from the start April† In the Lidl stores in Lyon, consumers can only buy four bottles of 0.75 liters of organic sunflower oil and three bottles of one liter of sunflower oil. And also mixtures of different oils. Our colleagues from Actu Lyon indicate that Lidl does not make it an obligation, but an invitation.

The management of these stores wants to avoid the phenomenon of overbuying, which causes shortages. We especially remember the shortage of toilet paper during the confinement due to Covid 19. It is the same panic phenomenon that should be avoided

That’s for sure: the blue-and-yellow Lidl store won’t be offering huge discounts on bottles of sunflower oil for the next few weeks!
