Metroid Dread: New Game Modes to Increase the Fun on Nintendo Switch

Game News Metroid Dread: New Game Modes to Increase the Fun on Nintendo Switch

Metroid Dread, one of the best Nintendo Switch exclusives released last year, is back in the news with a rather generous update. On the program are new game modes for even more challenges.

The Boss Rush finally here

While the whole world waits patiently for Metroid Prime 4Nintendo delighted the community with Metroid Dread, no more or less than the sequel to the original franchise. A simply excellent opus that has amassed the beautiful score of 18/20 in our sections at release end of 2021: if you want to immerse yourself in the old-fashioned adventure of Samus, know that a brand new update has just been introduced, sweetly named 2.1.0.

And this one comes to expand the MercurySteam game content with three new game modes! In the first place, we need the much anticipated Boss Rush. to mention and ask players to chain bosses with as much mastery as possible. The patch also allows itself to fix a small bug: in short, the whole description is below.

New modes added

Three different boss race modes have been added to the game. Press the R key on the “Samus Files” screen to switch to the boss selection screen.

Boss Rush

  • A mode where players continuously fight with 12 bosses and try to get the best time.
  • All damage received is carried over to the next battle. Weapons are fully restored between battles.
  • If Samus is defeated, players can select “Retry” to resume play at the start of the battle they lost. However, there is a time penalty for a defeat.
  • Boss fought in Boss Rush can be fought one-on-one at any time by selecting “Training”.
  • Unlocked by completing the main game once. (In case a player has completed the game before the update, they will be able to play Boss Rush right after the update).

Survival Rush

  • In this mode, players can see how many bosses they can defeat in the allotted time of 5 minutes.
  • All damage received or weapons spent carry over to the next battle. Even if there is time left, defeating Samus will result in a game over.
  • When you defeat a boss, a fixed time is added to the countdown. Defeat a boss without taking damage to get an even bigger time bonus.
  • The Survival Rush is unlocked by completing Boss Rush or Dread Rush.

dread rush

  • The basic rules are the same as in Boss Rush, but if Samus is hit by a boss, her energy drops to zero and she is defeated.
  • Bosses fought in Dread Rush can be fought one-on-one at any time by selecting “Practice”.
  • Unlocked by completing the main game in Dread mode. (In case a player has completed Dread Mode before the update was released, they will be able to play Dread Rush right after the update).

General Solutions

Fixed a bug where the Game Over screen would not display correctly when Samus took damage and was immediately defeated after destroying a CPU.
