Like every year, tonight starts the multigaming tournament combining competition and entertainment ZLAN, organized by ZeratoR (through its organization ZQSD Productions). We take a look at the stages of the tournament and how you can follow it.
The ZLAN 2022 starts tonight near Lyon (in Villeurbanne, to be precise), bring together 228 players divided into 76 trios† They will face each other on up to eleven games (for those who go furthest in the tournament), with more than 50,000 euros in cash prizes to win. The match will be streamed live on Twitch on the ZeratoR channel and on some participants’ channels.
To win you have to be good everywhere!
The ZLAN is a multigaming competitionso it asks for a great versatility of the participants. Indeed, being very strong in one or two games is not enough, as your opponents can dominate you in the other games of the tournament. Worse, if you get far in the competition, your favorite games can be banned by the opponent.
The games are as follows, with the corresponding rules for this tournament:
Fall Guys – Ultimate Knockout : Classic battle royale from Fall Guys. In the first group stage, all players in the group compete against each other. In the second stage of hens, two hens are grouped together. A player who survives a test gives his team one point, a player who wins gives his team five points.
Elden Ring : Boss rush in relay, with newly created character. Players must pass the controller every five minutes. They have 45 minutes to kill three bosses: Dragon Agheel, Godrick, and Radagon’s Crimson Wolf. Summons will be prohibited.
ZUTOM : Modified version of Sutom, especially for the event. Fifteen words can be found, in a maximum of ten minutes and in as few attempts as possible. These are words between five and eight letters. The ranking of the teams is that which has used the fewest attempts in total.
Riders Republic : A mass race on Riders Republic, where all players of a group are brought together in the first stage. The ranking takes into account the average of the places of the three players of a team. In the elimination phase it will be a 6 man versus race, with three runs per map on five different maps.
Apex Legends : Apex Legends is present in every stage of the tournament and is a flagship game of ZLAN 2022. In the group stages, all the trios of a group compete in two personalized games, on Olympus and Storm Zone. The final ranking of the teams will yield a number of points, as well as the number of kills. In the elimination phase, the trios will compete against each other in 3v3 Arena on three maps.
Worms Weapons of Mass Destruction : Worms is a ZLAN classic, so now it logically returns in 2022. In the group stage it becomes an FFA mode where four teams of six worms come together. Each player can only play his worm. In the final phase, two teams of six worms will compete against each other. In both cases, the games are played in a personalized mode for the ZLAN.
Age of Empires IV : In the group stage, six trios compete in FFA matches with six fifty-minute players. In each trio, only one member plays at a time, and every five minutes they take turns playing the keyboard. The final stage is played in standard 3v3. It should be noted that specific rules have also been drawn up for this game, both for the victory conditions and for the possible actions for the players.
Hot Wheels Unleashed : The game chosen by the public, a first for this 2022 edition. In the group stage, there are courses with six teams, one player per team, on maps created by ZeratoR, with collisions activated and car imposed. Each player of the trio plays a total of four maps, so each circuit is played three times, once per player from each team. The average ranking of the three players determines their place. In the elimination phase, a trio will encounter another on the four tracks, again with collisions activated.
Rocket League : Present only in the final stage, the teams will compete in 3v3 matches. The team that wins two of the three rounds wins the game. The three rounds are played in different game modes: Dropshot, Thermal Guidance and Snow Day.
Pro football online : The soccer game Pro Soccer Online may not be very famous, but it promises hilarious games because the gameplay is unique. It is only played in the final phase. In 5 minute 3v3 matches, the first team to win three matches wins the point.
The format of the tournament
The format of the ZLAN is as follows: two group stages, then quarter-finals, semi-finals and a grand final† It should be noted that for the first time the public will be present! indeed, the last day in which will be organized the semi-finals and the final will take place in front of the public du Double Mixte, the venue in Villeurbanne where the event takes place.
- Group stage 1: Friday from 7 p.m
78 trios, divided into four groups of nineteen teams. Top six teams from each group continue the tournament.
Fall Guys – Ultimate Knockout / Elden Ring / Zutom / Riders Republic / Apex Legends
- Group stage 2: Saturday from 2 pm.
24 trios, divided into four groups of six teams. The two best teams from each group continue the tournament.
Worms WMD / Age of Empires IV / Fall Guys – Ultimate Knockout / Apex Legends / Hot Wheels Unleashed
- Quarter-finals: Saturday from 8.30 pm
8 trios competing in the four quarter-finals, one team against another† It becomes a “BO3”, in other words, the first team to win the point over two games is qualified. The games are drawn†
- Semi-finals: Sunday from 12 noon (for the public)
4 trios compete in both semi-finals, one team against another there too. This time it’s a “BO5”, so the team that wins three games first is qualified. This time the teams choose the games, with a picks & bans systemwhere they can choose or forbid a game to favor or disadvantage their opponents.
- Grand final: Sunday from 19:45 (for the public)
2 trios compete in this Grand finale† It will be a “BO7”, so five games to win to win the trophy. A mystery process will be part of the games in question, and for the rest it will also be a pick & ban system†
the cash prize of 51,015 euros is distributed as follows:
- Winner: €45,000
- 2nd: €3,333
- 3rd and 4th: 1341 euros each
